Necessity is the mother of invention. When a trainer friend came to Doug with a problem, he joined him in the search. The problem was that he had tried all the saddles available and could not find one that allowed his horse to gait like he knew he should and could. They isolated the problem and began to look for a tree maker who would work with them to build a tree from scratch.  This search lasted several years until they found the right person and it made all the difference in the ability of the horse to perform in comfort and FREEDOM. Now we had the tree and began looking for saddle makers who wanted to make our design on our trees.  Long story short, they are not out there so Doug began to figure out how to make a saddle.  He read books, watched videos, talked to saddle makers, talked to anatomy experts, riding instructors, anyone who could contribute to his knowledge base. He didn’t wake up one day and say I want to be a saddle maker; he woke up one day and said no one else understands so it is up to me.  Over 1,000 saddles later he knows he made the right choices.
